Infosys plans to hire 30,000 foreigners

IT major Infosys today said it will set up development centres in countries like China and Mexico and would hire 30,000 people, including foreigners, this year.

The Bangalore-headquartered NASDAQ-listed company, which had set up its subsidiary in Dallas, US, would focus on developing markets like China and Mexico, Infosys Chairman and CEO S Gopalakrishnan told reporters.

"We are setting up development centres outside India like China and Mexico and our recruitment will also grow", he said.

Stating that the company would hire locals for their overseas operations, he said, "We have planned to recruit 30,000 people this year and this would also include our recruitment outside".

With their overseas operations, he said, the presence of foreign nationals on the company's payroll would increase to to 15 per cent from present five per cent over a period of time.

The company would recruit about 1,000 people in the US over the next four quarters.

He said there was significant opportunity available in the US as the government is a "big spender in newer technologies".

"They are looking at how to leverage newer technologies like the mobile technology, social media..and that's the reason why government will continue to be a big spender on technology...and we want to take advantage of it," he said.Infosys plans to hire 30,000 foreigners
