Seriously, we don't know what's going with these handset makers. At the Nokia Connections event in Singapore, Nokia has announced square form factor based new X5 smartphone,The Symbian Blog reported. This new Nokia X5 'Comes With Music' is a slider handset.
Earlier in April, Nokia had announced TCDMA based Nokia X5 for Chinese markets. Looks like Nokia has sworn to confuse people with two similar model name bearing handsets. Nonetheless, the China specific version of X5 launched earlier might not be launched for rest of nations. This new Nokia X5 'Comes With Music' slider phone looks like a cross between smartphone and XpressMusic handset.
New Nokia X5 has slide-to-open panel that reveals QWERTY keyboard and also brings along number of 'cool' sounding features. With looks like that of any other smartphone like E63 or E5, Nokia X5 runs Symbian S60v3 Feature Pack 2.
Nokia has added a dedicated music button on the phone just like Sony Ericsson did for its Walkman series of phones. Just like Apple has 'Shake to Shuffle' feature, this X5 comes with 'Surprise Me' feature wherein, if the phone is spun while music is being played, it will select and play a random track automatically. When music is not playing, you can shake the phone and it will tell you the number of new SMSes in the Inbox. Of course you'll have access to slew of social networking services too.
Looks like Nokia X5 will be targeted at the teenage and social multimedia frenzy audience. Nokia is expected to price the X5 at 165 Euros (around Rs. 9,500.) and it might be first introduced in Indonesia in third quarter of this year.
