Canada promises to review immigration policy after visa row

Canada announced this as Immigration Minister Jason Kenney issued an apology, observing that Canadian immigration officials should not have cast aspersions on India's institutions. The incidents, he said, showed visa officers have too much latitude. The Canadian High Commission, over the last few years, has denied visas to a number of senior serving and retired officials of the Indian armed forces and intelligence establishment, claiming that their organisations or they themselves have served in sensitive areas like Jammu and Kashmir and engaged in violence and human rights violations. The incidents, some of which were recently highlighted in the media, sparked outrage in India with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna terming them unacceptable.
Going into a damage control mode, an embarrassed Stephen Harper government apologised and pledged to review immigration rules in an effort to repair relations, the Globe and the Mail said. Canada's immigration law bars anyone who has committed war crimes or has engaged in terrorism, systematic or gross human rights violations, or genocide. Canada and India, Kenney said in a statement, work closely together on security. "The Government of Canada therefore deeply regrets the recent incident in which letters drafted by public service officials during routine visa refusals to Indian nationals cast false aspersions on the legitimacy of work carried out by Indian defence and security institutions, which operate under the framework of democratic processes and the rule of law," he said. The apology came with a pledge that Canada will review its policy on declaring foreigners inadmissible. The incident, he added, "has demonstrated that the deliberately broad legislation may create instances when the net is cast too widely by officials, creating irritants with our trusted and valued international allies". Canada is home to one million strong Indian dias.

China develops country's fastest super computer

The supercomputer, named Xingyun, doubles the speed of "Tianhe-1," previously the fastest one in China developed by the National University of Defense Technology last October, said Li Jun, president of the Dawning Information Industry Co. Ltd. "Its peak performance reaches nearly three quadrillion calculations per second, three times of the peak speed of Tianhe-1," Xinhua news agency quoted Li as saying. Experts say one second of its work may take a whole day for a dual-core personal computer. Xingyun is the server part of "Dawning 6000," jointly developed by the company, Chinese Academy of Sciences Calculation Institution, and the South China Supercomputing Center, which aims to meet the application demand of "cloud computing," or more specifically scientific computing, intelligent Internet searching and DNA sequencing. By the end of this year, "Dawning 6000" will be delivered to National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen of China's southern Guangdong Province for computing and information services in southern China, including Hong Kong and Macao. The Beijing-based Dawning Information Industry Co., Ltd., founded in 1995, is a leading company in the field of high-performance computer.
China's reputation for cheap labour at stake?
Recent protests and the official response to a spate of suicides at Foxconn Technology, a maker of electronics for industry giants such as Apple, Dell and Hewlett-Packard, suggests China's leaders are at least tacitly allowing workers to talk back. Over the weekend, the top communist party leader in Guangdong province visited Foxconn's sprawling factory where 10 workers have committed suicide and urged the company to adopt a ``better, more humane working environment'' for its mostly young workers, state media reported. ``The 80s and 90s generation workers need more care and respect and need to be motivated to work with enthusiasm,'' said Guangdong party chief Wang Yang, who has backed efforts to shift Guangdong up the industrial ladder away from reliance on exports of low tech, cheap products. That transition is taking hold across China. Manufacturers, under pressure to deliver low prices in home markets, are struggling to attract and keep young workers who, brought up in an era of relative affluence, are proving less willing than earlier generations to ``eat bitterness'' by putting up with miserable working environments and poor wages.

India fears Commonwealth Games venues will not be ready

Commonwealth Games-2010 host India appears to be in a potentially embarrassing situation, as construction delays have raised fears that
the venues might not be ready on time. India hopes the Games will showcase its rising economic power, as the country is expecting two million tourists in New Delhi, as well as about 10,000 athletes from 71 teams representing 54 Commonwealth member states for the Games beginning on October 3. However, with barely four months to go, the work at the main stadium is months overdue and the completion of the swimming pool and other venues have been delayed, highlighting the slow pace of infrastructure development. Other games-related constructions such as roads, bridges, and hotels are also running behind schedule. Even the roads leading to the Commonwealth Games village, where the athletes and officials will stay, are running behind schedule and the delays are causing anxiety among some of the locals. Surender Sahni, a regular commuter on the road across the games village said he doubted if Delhi would be ready for its coming out party. "The construction here is quite delayed, I don't think they will be able to finish it on time, and this is also causing inconvenience to the public," Sahni said. Satish Sharma, another local, echoed similar sentiments, saying the work should have been long over. "I think the preparations are really slow, the pace at which the construction is going on, as you can see this bridge as well as another bridge a little distance away on the same road, they are still not complete. I think they will not be finished in time for the games," said Sharma. "I am not wanting to sound alarmist, but the reality is there is a lot more to be done, a lot of finishing work to be done," said Mike Hooper, Chief Executive Officer of the Commonwealth Games Federation. Other officials from the Commonwealth Games Federation and the Indian Olympic Association voiced similar concerns. India had initially promised to hand over the venues to Games organisers by December 31, 2009, but deadlines have been consistently been missed for building roads, ports and power plants. Bureaucracy and red tape and difficulties in acquiring land have delayed plans to overhaul the infrastructure. "The construction agencies have promised that they will meet deadlines but, unfortunately, we have had times when many promises were made, and then we find one reason or another that delivery hasn't been there," said Hooper. Authorities now fear the schedule will become so tight that there will not be enough time for checks before the start of the Games. Heightening those fears, the lights went out at a stadium on the first day of an Asian junior tennis tournament recently, forcing officials to abandon eight matches. However, the organisers are putting up a brave face, saying that the pace has picked up and they were on course to provide a stunning spectacle. "I can assure you one thing, these will be the best Commonwealth games ever. There is no doubt about it," said Suresh Kalmadi, Chairman of the Commonwealth games Organising Committee. India is also trying to reassure foreign participants that it will provide foolproof security for the Commonwealth Games.

India gold buying retreats; rupee, price falls eyed

India gold buying retreated from the previous session's pick-up as the rupee weakened, making the dollar-quoted yellow metal expensive and
as traders sought a further fall in prices, dealers said. "Nothing much today... we did some deals on Friday, when prices were at $1,205/1,215 an ounce," said a dealer with a state-run bullion dealing bank in Mumbai, adding "even the rupee is not in supportive mode." The Indian rupee weakened as concerns rose over the eurozone growth prospects and its impact on the world economy after Spain's downgrade. International gold, which guides the domestic markets, was trading at $1,213.35/1,214.15 an ounce as against the previous close of $1,212.75/1,216.75 an ounce. "Either rupee will have to go below 46, or prices need to fall below 1,200, for buying to pick-up again," said another dealer with a private bullion-dealing bank.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: Taylor Lautner head Down Under to promote eclipse

Latest Updates on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: According to the source,, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner head Down Under to promote their flick, ECLIPSE.. Unfortunately for Robert Pattinson’s Australian fans, he’s filming WATER FOR ELEPHANTS in LA.

Stewart currently lives in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. Stewart has expressed a desire to live and work in Australia, saying, “I want to go to Sydney University in Australia. My mom’s from there.”
Apart from acting, she is also interested in attending college in the near future, saying, “I want to go to college for literature. I want to be a writer. I mean, I love what I do, but it’s not all I want to do—be a professional liar for the rest of my life.” In Vanity Fair, Stewart admitted that she dated Michael Angarano, her co-star from Speak.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart – Poles apart, yet close!
It is true that opposites attract. And our two favorite Hollywood stars would prove it perfectly. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are way different in nature, and see they bond so well together!
Here are some points which draw the demarcation line between the two celebs…
1. Friendliness – Robert Pattinson blends perfectly with the paparazzi and photographers and treats his fans well. He is often seen posing with his fans or giving polite interviews to the journalists.
Kristen Stewart, on the other hand, isn’t that friendly with her admirers and is not too free with the paparazzi. In a recent report, KStew says that she feels raped by the reporters when mobbed by them. She doesn’t like the unwanted attention and prefers to be left alone.
2. Modesty – Robert Pattinson is a very down-to-earth and modest person. He is a total hassle free celebrity and is very humble. Rob is so famous for his humbleness that when the fake reports of his conflict with the director of Eclipse popped up few weeks back, majority didn’t believe the media.
Excuse us Kristen, but the way you yelled at the reporters in Australia asking them to stop clicking your pics, was anything but modest. And what were those middle fingers show for?
3. Witty – No introduction needed for Rob’s sense of humor. He is ever so witty and has a wonderful comic sense. He is all smiles ever and has a charming approach for all.
Kristen is relatively reserved and she hardly smiles even while posing for the camera in big event nights.
We don’t want to compare between RPattz and KStew in terms of characteristics, but it is true that the hotties are way different from each other. And who knows whether that’s the reason why they are so close to each other, be as friends or as lovers!

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes review their marriage everyday

Hollywood star Tom Cruise has revealed that he and his wife Katie Holmes always try to learn from their mistakes and ask each other about their performances everyday.
‘Because we do live in a cynical world, it’s easy to be cynical. Making the choice not to be cynical is important. You can keep dwelling on what didn’t work, or you can figure out how to fix it,’ Cruise said in a statement.
‘You know, I’m married to such a special woman. Every night before we go to sleep, Katie and I look at each other and it’s like ‘How do we do today?’,’ he added

Bipasha feeling insecure of Vidya Balan?

Bipasha Basu is not in the favor of beau John Abraham to cast opposite Vidya Balan and she is making much effort to encourage John to walk out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Chenab Gandhi’ in which he will be paired opposite Vidya Balan.
We spoke to our source, “Bipasha has been trying her level best to persuade John to step out of the project, but he doesn’t want to back out from this historical venture of Sanjay. While the film was scheduled to start in April, it has now been postponed to December 2009 because of John’s uncertainty. This delay from John has been on purpose because he still hopes Bipasha would cool down. But it doesn’t seem so, as the couple has again begun to have arguments over this issue.”
Earlier Harman Baweja was to act in ‘Chenab Gandhi’ but later he was replaced by John. In the past, John and Bipasha had a fight over his pairing opposite Vidya in ‘Salaam-E-Ishq’ where the couple seemed to have shared a great on-screen chemistry.
Vidya Balan bowled over by Zaheer Khan
The T20 cricket match fever has caught up in a big way, not only with the common man but also with stars. Like for example take our desi-babe Vidya.
Miss Balan has turned a huge raving cricket fan and is madly in love with the gentleman’s game. Apparently, Vidya became a big fan of Cricket right after being cleaned bowled by Zaheer Khan.
Yes Vidya has a thing for Zaheer. Ahem That is Vidya is a big fan of cricket and even a bigger fan of Zaheer Khan’s cricketing.
Recently Vidya confessed to a friend that her favorite cricketer is Zaheer Khan.
And her friend told us, “Vidya thinks Zaheer is the hottest cricketer on the block.”
“Zaheer’s coyness appeals to Vidya. She feels Zaheer’s quite nature may give a different impression but he is a strong man from within,” add the over-zealous friend.
Hmm… Vidya became a fan of Zaheer after watching him play T20. But somehow judging by Vidya’s expert commentary on Zaheer, we are guessing there is more to the story. Wotsay Vidya?

Rahul Gandhi picks his team for UP polls

Rahul Gandhi, it appears, has little confidence in the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) going by his decision to deploy a parallel team to assist him in the 2012 assembly polls.
The Congress general secretary has chosen a 10-member team of his trusted men drawn from across the country to help him prepare a panel of potential candidates to take on the might of Mayawati.
Normally, the state unit of the party recommends names of potential candidates.
But showing little confidence in the UPCC, he has chosen his own team to prepare confidential reports of all 403 assembly seats. Three prospective candidates will be shortlisted from each constituency.
Rahul's show of no-confidence in the state unit apparently stems from its apparent failure to mobilise masses for the ' Rath Yatra' flagged off by him from Ambedkar Nagar on April 14.
The concern of the Gandhi scion is not unfounded as the state leaders had suspended the 'rath yatra' two weeks ago on the pretext that people were not turning up because of the excessive heat.
They say it will be restarted when the "weather improves". But at the same time, they invited Rahul to Mirzapur on May 18 to give the yatra a boost.
Initially, Rahul had decided to let the state leaders manage the yatra . But seeing their lax attitude, he has decided to get involved and will address more rallies in Bundelkhand and eastern UP in the second half of June.
Party sources said the team members - three each from MP and Haryana, two from Maharashtra and one each from Rajasthan and Gujarat - have been told to keep away from local Congressmen and meet up people to gauge the impression of the party and its leaders in the state.
"They have been asked to search for new talents and also look for potential rebels with a clean image in other parties," said a Congress leader, who refused to be named.
The presence of 10 observers chosen by Rahul was confirmed by UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi. "We know about it and appreciate the effort of Rahul Gandhi. While they would be preparing a list of candidates, we would also prepare our list. We hope the best from both the lists would finally get the ticket," she said.
But Congress sources said the decision of Rahul was influenced by a report of Congress general secretary in-charge of UP, Digvijay Singh, who told the Gandhi scion there was discontent against Joshi's leadership.
The dissatisfaction of the central Congress leadership reached the surface in February this year when Joshi's decision to replace Maruf Khan with Muid Ahmed as chairman of the minority cell of the state unit and Vinod Chaudhary with Sidh Gopal Sahu, as chief of the OBC cell, was reverted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Earlier, Deepak Gupta, a former treasurer of UPCC had registered a complaint with Digvijay that Joshi was misusing party funds.
But Joshi said, "There is no difference among the party leaders. We all want to win the election." P. L. Punia, Congress MP from Barabanki said, "It is true that some observers from outside have been asked by Rahul to take stock. But I think they will coordinate with the local leaders before preparing their list and submitting their report to him."

WHO to award Turkey's Erdogan for his fight against tobacco

POST BY CURRENT NEWS
World Health Organization, or WHO, decided to grant its "World No Tobacco Day 2010 Award" to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a WHO official said on Friday. Erdogan will be given WHO's special award, the Director-General Special Recognition Award, for his anti-smoking efforts, WHO official Toker Erguder said. In July 2009, Turkish government introduced a law that made it illegal to light up in all enclosed areas including bars, cafes and restaurants across the country. Despite calls to ease the law, Prime Minister Erdogan, known for his anti-tobacco stance, has not taken a step backwards. Erguder said Erdogan was chosen for his determinant stance and his pioneer role that made Turkey one of the leading countries in global tobacco control activities. Turkey, Britain and Ireland are the only three countries in Europe which have 100 percent smoke-free airspace, Erguder said. Every year, WHO recognizes individuals or organizations in each of the six WHO regions for their accomplishments in the area of tobacco control. This recognition takes the form of Director-General Special Recognition Awards and World No Tobacco Day Awards.

Indo-US civil nuclear deal

POST BY CURRENT NEWS
The much heralded Indo-US civil nuclear deal for co-operation in nuclear power is fraught with controversies. Nuclear power is a double-edged term - as it may refer to peaceful power generation or the production of nuclear weapons capable of mass destruction. The benefit of this ambiguity has been repeatedly exploited by a de-facto nuclear weapons state, India. The conclusion of this deal in the form of a signature on 123 Agreement in October 2008 between India and the US has created yet another international dogma. The end of 1960s saw the developing states of the world striving hard to acquire nuclear weapons technology. Therefore, the creation of the nuclear non-proliferation regime to control and limit the development of nuclear weapons became an imperative need. At the centre of this regime, is the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty (NPT), which came into force in 1970, and has been ratified by 189 countries. The objective of the treaty is to curtail the spread of nuclear weapons technology and ensure disarmament. The NPT classifies the world into two groups; the Nuclear Weapons States (NWS) which include the USA, Russia, the UK, France and China, and the Non-Nuclear Weapon States (NNWS), which comprise the rest of the world. According to the NPT, a NWS is one which has manufactured and tested a nuclear explosive device prior to 1st January 1967. Under Articles I and II of the NPT, the NWS undertake not to help the NNWS to develop or acquire nuclear weapons, and the NNWS permanently renounce the pursuit of such weapons. To ensure the commitment towards treaty obligations, Article III of the NPT authorizes the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect the nuclear facilities of the NNWS.India has never been a member of the NPT. However, it tested a 'peaceful nuclear device', as it was then described by the Indian government) in 1974. This was the first nuclear device developed and tested after the creation of the NPT and hence it raised new questions about how civilian nuclear technology could secretly be diverted to weapons programmes (dual-use technology).

Turkey's FM says Iran nuclear deal "a test" for Vienna Group
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the discussion topic should be Vienna Group's response to Iran, not sanctions.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the discussion topic should be Vienna Group's response to Iran, not sanctions. At a joint press conference with his Brazilian and Spanish counterparts following the second day of the Alliance of Civilizations Forum in Rio de Janeiro, Davutoglu said, "now we have to look ahead." Davutoglu said Turkey and Brazil's efforts were aimed at defusing tension and paving the way for a diplomatic solution to reach a final settlement in Iran's nuclear program. "This is a test for all of us whether we will solve problems through conflict or negotiation. As Turkey and Brazil, we convinced Iran to use diplomatic means. Tehran deal was reached thanks to flexible policies by Iranian administration," he said. Foreign ministers of Turkey, Iran and Brazil signed a deal where Iran committed to give the 1,200 kg of 3.5 percent enriched uranium to Turkey in exchange for 20 percent enriched uranium it will receive from Western countries to be used as fuel in the nuclear research reactor in Tehran. Tehran will receive the enriched uranium in Turkey from the Vienna Group, comprising of the U.S., France, Russia and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Recalling that Iran has fulfilled its responsibility to send a letter to IAEA, Davutoglu said that it was now time to talk about diplomacy to move forward. "Yes, this is a success achieved by Turkey and Brazil but it is also a result of U.S. President Barack Obama's policy of engagement and many-sidedness," he added

Acupuncture works by releasing natural painkiller into body

Acupuncture eases pain in the limbs because it releases a natural molecule called adenosine,US neuroscientists reported on Sunday. The mechanism was discovered through experiments in lab mice, which were given an injection of an inflammation-inducing chemical in their right paw.The researchers inserted fine needles below the midline of the mices knee,at a wellknown acupuncture location called the Zusanli point. They rotated the needle gently every five minutes for 30 minutes, mimicking a standard acupuncture treatment.During and just after this operation, levels of adenosine in the tissues surrounding the needle surged 24-fold.The mouses discomfort measurable by the rodents response time to touch and heat was reduced by two-thirds.The same test was carried out on mice that had been genetically engineered to lack adenosine. The acupuncture failed to have any effect, and the mice reacted in discomfort,as before

Katrina concentrating on her home production

POST BY CURRENT NEWS

Recent reports claimed that after Raajneeti, Bollywood’s lucky mascot Katrina Kaif is all set to play a female army recruit in her debut production. But contrary to popular belief there is no such confirmation yet.
A source reveals, “There is no truth in the news that Katrina will be playing an army recruit or that the film will be on the lines of Private Benjamin. It is too early to talk about it as nothing has been finalized as of now.”
Reports also claimed that the film in question based on life in the army, will be Katrina’s focus over her remake of the French movie whose rights Katrina has purchased. And the news hasn’t gone down well with the Bollywood Diva.
The source adds, “When the time comes, an announcement will be made on the particulars of her debut production project. As of now, Katrina is just in talks and toying with ideas. It’s pointless to speculate over mere rumours.”
Confirming the news, Katrina’s spokesperson says, “Katrina is just going through the details and is in talks regarding her debut production but nothing has been finalized as of now.”

Katrina has problem with Zoya Akhtar's film
Zoya Akhtar’s film Running With The Bulls is again going for a name change, apparently on the insistence of Katrina Kaif. It has also been reported earlier that Katrina is doing quite a few stunts in the film including dirt biking and deep sea diving. The film also stars Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar and Kalki Koechlin. Farhan is also helping sister Zoya with the dialogues of the film. After dropping the name Running With The Bulls, as the prediction of an English name of the film would not be digested well by the Indian audiences was preconceived, it was decided that the film would be titled as Zindagi Na Mile Dubara.
Going by the reports, even the new Hindi title hasn't been received well. Our sources found out that Katrina had a problem with this title and explained that it sounded very outdated and clichéd against the image of the film which is fresh, new, and youthful. The film’s shoot is scheduled to begin in Spain next moth. The producers are desperately racking their brains to find another title suitable for this movie and it seems they will have to do it soon.Apart from this one problem, they are also hunting for an actress to be paired against Hrithik Roshan. Contrary to speculations, Katrina will be starring opposite Farhan Akhtar. There is much to look out for as Hrithik, Farhan, and Abhay will also be seen speaking Spanish in this film. It is also speculated that after his experience in Kites with the sultry actress, Hrithik has suggested Barbara Mori for the role opposite him in this film. As for the time being, the hunt for a leading lady opposite Hrithik is still in process. We wonder who this face is going to be!

Ranbir kapoor's mom is Nikhila Tirkha in Rajneeti

POST BY CURRENT NEWS
Ranbir Kapoor is very picky about his screen mothers, and that’s because he has very high standards at home to equal on screen.

Hence he had said some time ago, “My mom was and is a fabulous actress. But the person that I see on screen is not my mother. I see them as two different entities.I can’t see my mom playing my mother.”
At the same time Ranbir is extremely particular about who plays his mom on screen. In Raajneeti the choice was narrowed down even further since Prakash Jha wanted the actress playing Ranbir’s mother to resemble him physically.

After considering several unusual actresses for the part of his mother including Raveena Tandon(who thought she wasn’t old enough to play Ranbir’s mother) and Mrinal Kulkarni, director Jha zeroed in on a completely new 30-year old aspiring actress named Nikhila Tirkha .

Totally new to acting Nikhila was chosen for her facial resemblance to her screen-son Ranbir.Says Parkash Jha, “I was very clear that the facial resemblance has to be very strong. I wanted Ranbir, Arjun Rampal to look like brothers, which they do, and I wanted the actress playing Ranbir’s mother to look like him.”

Ranbir apparently gave his nod the minute he saw the unknown actress who has to play a very young woman required to take over a political dynasty and later, her US- based son Ranbir’s mother in this dynastic saga.Known to work with seasoned and saleable actresses how did Jha surrender such a complex role to an inexperienced actress?Says the director, “When Nikhila auditioned for the part I instinctively knew she was right for the part although she has had no acting experience. In fact Ranbir who’s much younger than her was far more experienced. But he never let her feel like a newcomer.”

Incidentally Ranbir tends to treat his screen -moms with far more respect than he does his other co-stars. The unknown Nikhila got more attention on location for Raajneeti than Katina Kaif .

Forgive me for using the C word – Christmas. I know spring has only just sprung, but already, retailers are beginning to think about what might be topping Christmas lists come December.
Games consoles look set to remain a popular present, although, in truth, there have been few changes to the three major home consoles for a long while. Microsoft's Xbox 360 console first went on sale in 2005; Sony's PlayStation 3 in 2007; and the Nintendo Wii has enjoyed strong sales since 2006, although sales are slowing.
You can't blame the big three console makers for sticking with their tried and trusted products; developing a new games console is an expensive business, and developers would be hard-pressed to create systems with more powerful processors and better graphics than the current generation.
There is a feeling among many gamers that the PS3 and the Xbox 360 are only now really starting to come in to their own, with an excellent library of games, plenty of compelling exclusives for both platforms, mature online gaming propositions, and heaps of extra features, such as on-demand movie downloads.
So that means the likes of Microsoft and Sony have had to come up with a way to reinvigorate their existing platforms, rather than start from scratch. And both companies, seeking to widen their appeal to an increasingly diverse audience of gamers, including novices or casual players, have opted to take a leaf out of Nintendo's book by creating motion-sensing gaming systems.
Microsoft's Project Natal, which does away completely with the need for a controller, will be in shops by December; Sony's effort, the PlayStation Move, is expected to go on sale some time in October.
The Move, which I tested last week, certainly pays homage to the Wii – it has a Wiimote style controller with a glowing ball mounted at the end, and a separate nunchuck-style controller with an analogue stick. It will also have a similar suite of games available at launch – a sports package, similar to Wii Sports, that allows players to wield their Move controller as though it were a tennis racquet. There will be family-friendly "party" games too, like those found on the Wii, that allow players to "paint" on-screen, swat flies and give a cartoon character a virtual haircut.
These games work well, and the Move controller is definitely more precise than the Wiimote. But the whole "party game" genre feels rather staid; Sony hasn't really pushed the envelope with these games, which just feel like updated versions of Wii Table Tennis or Microsoft's You're In the Movies. Sony's ambition with these titles is clear – to embrace a new gaming audience who perhaps would never have considered buying a PlayStation 3, believing Nintendo's cheap and cheerful Wii was better-suited to the casual gaming experience.
The difficult balancing act for Sony, of course, is creating a gaming system that works well on fun and frivolous party games, but which also performs well on the hard-core, first- and third-person-shooter titles for which the platform is renowned.
At E3 last year, Sony gave a demo of the Move system, showing off its ability to precisely track the speed and arc of the player's movement. This, they said, would be a crucial element in ensuring the system could be applied to precision gameplay of the sort needed in shooting or strategy games, where one mistimed shot or wrong move can mean the difference between a clean kill and being pwned.
The presence of some rough code for Socom 4 at the demo day gave me a chance to test out this promise. The wand-style controller, with the glowing ball on top, effectively becomes the player's "gun" – you use the wand to line up a shot, and squeeze the trigger to fire off a round. The other controller, which doesn't need to be connected to the wand (unlike the nunchuck does to the Wiimote) controls a player's movement, with just a gentle nudge of the analogue stick needed to send the gunman off at a run.
The aim of the system is to make it easy for hard-core gaming newbies to get to grips with shooting games. By separating out the two controllers, players know that the wand is responsible for aiming and firing, the smaller remote for movement. And while it takes a little getting used to, the benefits are immediately obvious. It's easier to line up a shot and to accurately track the path of rebel fighters using the wand; the EyeToy camera mounted on the television translates your movement precisely on the screen, in real time. It provides a level of intuitive interaction that is missing from simply mashing buttons and twiddling an analogue stick on a traditional controller.

I really liked the interface, and could see how it could be mapped to a variety of shooting games, or even sports games, such as Fifa, with the larger controller used to line up shots and dictate the power and direction of a strike, and the smaller controller used to move players around and guide off-the-ball action.
Whether the PS3 purists take it to heart remains to be seen; they may see no need for a new control system to replace the one that has served them so well up until now. And in truth, the small selection of casual games I saw at the demo are not compelling enough to persuade hard-core game fans to splash out on the Move. Sony's best bet may be the in-betweeners – the gamers who have grown tired of party games and Wii tennis, and who want to make the leap to more serious gaming using a controller system of wands and nunchucks that is already familiar to them.
If Sony can price the system competitively, and win over the hard-core gaming sceptics, then the Move may be seen as a viable gaming system, rather than dismissed as a gimmick, as some have done with the Wii and Project Natal. It will be interesting to see how the battle between the consoles hots up in the run-up to Christmas.

best IPAD application(top 10 ipad app)

Apple's iPad tablet goes on sale in Britain, with no small amount of fanfare. If you’re one of the lucky ones who managed to bag one, you’ll no doubt be hunting for applications to use on it. Here are some of our favourites.
Link to this video
1. iWork (£5.99 each)
Apple’s own productivity programs - Pages, Numbers and Keynote - have been given an overhaul to work on the iPad touch screen and are available separately for a very reasonable price indeed. How you get on with them will depend largely on what you think of the iPad’s on-screen keyboard. Even if you don’t need to create presentations or spreadsheets on the go, it’s worth adding Pages, Apple’s word processor, to your iPad.
2. Tweetdeck (Free)
It seems that everyone is on Twitter these days and, for the iPad user, Tweetdeck is the best way to see what they’re talking about. Like the Twitter website Tweetdeck enables you to put those you follow into groups. Unlike the website, however, Tweetdeck shows you multiple lists at the same time. An app that was too big for the iPhone’s screen works perfectly on the larger iPad
3. The Elements (£7.99)
Stephen Fry said this app was worth the price of an iPad by itself. He’s a national treasure so who am I to argue? Science nerds will love it - it’s a data-packed exploration of the periodic table of the elements, with each element illustrated by a large, rotating colour image. Double tapping on the element makes it full-screen and tapping a third time will provide a 3D version.
4. Toy Story 2: Read Along (£5.49)
Children love the iPad. It’s the perfect size for them and they seem to know instinctively how to use it. There are plenty of apps for children, some that teach letters, numbers and words and others that emphasise creative play. This one is an interactive story app based on the Toy Story films. What’s clever about it is that you can record yourself reading the story so that your children can play back your version whenever they want.
5. Scrabble (£5.99)
Board games work well on the iPad and Scrabble is no exception. Play against the computer or with friends without ever having to worry about whether some of the tiles have disappeared since the last time you played. One clever idea is the addition of a free iPhone app that lets you use your iPhone or iPod Touch as a tile rack and flick letters from your hand onto the board.
6. Epicurious (Free)
One place where the iPad is likely to do unexpectedly well is in the kitchen. The Epicurious app contains tens of thousands of recipes, organised thematically and searchable based on ingredients or keywords. You can even search based on what you have in the fridge The app creates a shopping list based on the recipes you’ve chosen and, once you’re back in the kitchen, it makes it easy to follow the cooking instructions on screen.
7. Brushes iPad Edition (£4.99)
Another iPad app with a celebrity endorsement is Brushes, which David Hockney has been using as his drawing pad. It’s a very flexible app - easy to use for beginners who want to have fun sketching but with some powerful options for more serious artists. The screenshots in Apple’s iTunes store show what can be achieved with the app. However, matching them could require a lot of practice.
8. Amazon Kindle (Free)
If you want to read ebooks on your iPad, there are three main options: Apple’s iBooks is well-designed but, at the moment, offers fewer titles than its competitors. Amazon Kindle and eBooks by Kobo eachs offers many more titles than Apple and a pleasant reading environment. If I had to pick one, I would choose Amazon’s Kindle. However, since they are all free there is no need to choose. Download them all.
9. Instapaper Pro (£2.99)
If you’re not using Instapaper yet, you should start right away. Instapaper saves web articles that you would like to read later and displays them for you in a well-designed and simple layout. You can save articles from anywhere - your PC, mobile phone or the iPad itself - and they will all be waiting for you the next time you load the app. There’s a free version of Instapaper but the Pro features are worth the small fee.
10. Weather HD (£0.59)
This app gives you the weather forecast for the next few days but it’s the way that it does it that makes this app an essential purchase. There are no maps, no radar views of advancing weather fronts and none of the meteorological bells and whistles that a typical weather app offers.Instead there are just beautiful, high definition videos of wind-blown fields of grass, gently falling rain and so on. It’s mesmerising.

cheapest apple ipad at heathrow airport

Shoppers flying through Heathrow have been able to buy the new Apple iPad for less than the official retail price, because Dixons Travel shops are selling the gadget in their air-side outlets. Savings range from £12.50 on the normally £429 Wi-FI 16gb model to £20.36 on the 64gb 3G model that normally sells for £699.

Dixons stressed that the prices were subject to availability, and demand for the new products has been strong across the country since they went on sale at 8am on Friday morning.
The first Apple customers, some of whom had queued since midday on Thursday, were greeted to thunderous cheers from dozens of specially drafted in staff members when they entered the tech giant’s flagship store in Regent Street, central London.

Many dedicated gadget fans, some whom had travelled from outside London, could not contain their excitement as they trundled through the doors while some looked slightly bewildered at the fuss.

Long queues had formed outside the store for patient fans eager to lay claim to one of the first touch-screen table-style computers in Britain.

Stores across the country opened an hour earlier to help cope with demand for the product which allows users to send emails, read novels, draw pictures and play games.

The 9.7-inch touch-screen, which retails in Britain for between £429 and £699, has been hailed by the publishing industry as a potential life-saver.

The iPad’s first wave of reviews praised its ability to deliver digital books and video quickly, saying it measured up well against other devices, including Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle e-book reader.

The first customer through the door at 8am was Jake Lee, 17, from Epping, Essex, who had camped outside the store for more than 20 hours with best friends Joe Woodcock, 17, and John Mansdorp, also from Essex.

While braving the cold, the trio were given food and drinks by sympathetic Apple staff with several other customers offering them hundreds of pounds to replace them in line.

Button splits from model girlfriend jessica michibati

British Formula One driver Jenson Button has split from his lingerie model girlfriend Jessica Michibata as he found maintaining a long-distance relationship too difficult to handle.

Button, 30, who has been dating Michibata, 25, for 18 months, called it quits just after the Monaco Grand Prix, after he found the regular return commutes to visit her in Tokyo too much.

"Jenson had a great time with Jessica and it looked like things were moving in the right direction. But the logistics took their toll," the Sun quoted a source as saying.

"With her living in Tokyo and him all around the world to races it has been very tough. She was constantly flying out to meet him.

"And whenever there was a race in her part of the world he'd fit a visit to Tokyo into his schedule. But it's impossible to maintain that in the long term.

"Just over a week ago Jenson reluctantly decided that his racing must be his main priority.

"He was forced to make the unpleasant decision to split to focus on his racing. There is no one else involved," the source revealed.

With Michibata wanting to remain in Tokyo, it has not been very easy for Button.

"Jenson is single again. He and Jessica have gone their separate ways," his spokesman confirmed

Footie star David Beckham has been taking wife Victoria on secret holidays in a camper van to escape the stresses of fame.

In a bid to keep their romance alive, the two take road trips and evenings under the stars at 60pounds-a-night trailer parks, according to the News of the World.

A friend revealed: "It's true. David and Victoria just love getting away in these giant motorhomes.

"People might find it hard to believe, but it's a simple pleasure they both enjoy enormously. Their lives are so hectic that it's a rare chance to forget about Brand Beckham and concentrate on each other.

"They just arrange for the kids to be looked after for a few days, hit the road, and get back to nature.

"They just keep a low profile, although of course they have security guys lurking nearby."

Portugese footballer Ronaldo gets steamy with Russian swimwear model

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been snapped taking a shower with Russian swimwear model Irina Shayk.

The pair enjoyed a three-day holiday off the coast of Corsica in a luxury 100-foot yacht for which the soccer star apparently splurged 55,000 pounds.

They visited a hotel for a massage before walking down the beach and returning to the boat where they had the wet and wild moment.

An onlooker said, Irina, who poses for Italian undie brand Intimissimi, seemed to enjoy the bath.

"She couldn't stop giggling when Ron waved his hose about!"

Angelina Jolie wants to impress kids with movie stunts in movie salts

POST BY IMRAN KHAN
Hollywood star Angelina Jolie thinks she should take less risks now she is a mother, but can't help but tackle daring stunts because she wants to impress her kids so much.
The Oscar-winning actress - who raises three six children with partner Brad Pitt - tries to be more careful in her work, out of consideration for her family but still wants them to be amazed by her stunt work.
"The funny thing about having children is that now I am twice as motivated to do a cool stunt because my kids will like it," Jolie said.

"I'm very responsible these days not to be self-destructive because of my kids, but at the same time I have all the more reason to do all the cool things possible because I want to try and make my kids proud," she added.

The actress started work on her most recent action-packed movie Salt soon after giving birth to twins Knox and Vivienne, now 22 months, and admits she was delighted to get the "push" she needed to get back in shape as the film was so physically challenging.

"I've always been ridiculously fearless to a fault. I feel happier if I'm living every day to the fullest. I'd just had two babies and the push to be physically strong was very welcome at the time," Jolie said.

Manchester City considering £65 million double swoop for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure

Eyeing the next season's Champions League, Manchester City are considering a £65 million double swoop for Barcelona pair Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Yaya Toure.
The club's manager, Roberto Mancini, who has worked with Ibrahimovic at San Siro, wants to make sure the team never misses out on the Champions League football glory again.

This summer is Mancini's first chance to revamp City since taking over as boss, as he has targeted Swedish striker Ibrahimovic, who Barca are prepared to sell for £50 million.

"Carlos Tevez has talked about being unhappy at City and may look to force his way out this summer, while Mancini is prepared to allow Emmanuel Adebayor to leave. It would be a massive change at the club, but Mancini has the backing of his Middle-East owners," Daily Star reports.

Garry Cook, the chief executive of Manchester City, is currently in Spain and holding talks with various clubs bosses, including the sporting director of Barcelona, Txiki Begiristain.

Defensive midfielder Yaya Toure is also being looked at along with 28-year-old Ibrahimovic, as central defender Kolo Toure has talked to Mancini about bringing his brother to the club.

England, Spain and Brazil strongest teams at World Cup says Lionel Messi

Argentina striker Lionel Messi has tipped England, Spain and Brazil, as the strongest sides going into next month’s World Cup in South Africa.
“I think that right now, the strongest sides are England, Spain and Brazil. They had a strong, easy qualifying and are very tough,” The Sun quoted Messi, as saying.

The 22-year-old, who has had another stellar season with Barcelona, further admits that he is yet to reproduce that form at international level, but hopes that things will click during the tournament.

“I want to do well with my national team and perform like I do with Barcelona and I know that this is a really good opportunity for me and I'm going to try to do it,” Messi said.

“Hopefully, it will be my World Cup, Argentina's World Cup and that we hit the ground running and play up to people's expectations and win the World Cup,” he added.

Messi also feels that coach Diego Maradona’s guidance and advice can help him in his pursuit.

“Maradona has always been very nice to me. Even before he was our coach and I took my first steps as a professional. Now that I have him as a manager, he's even closer and gives me a lot more confidence than he did before,” he added.

PIMPLE(ACNE) REMOVAL FASTEST WAY

POST BY IMRAN KHAN
Pimples are tiny skin lesions or inflammations of the skin. They are commonly caused by clogged or infected pores. They may appear as deeper lumps (cysts or nodules) on the face, neck, chest, back and sometimes shoulders.

Severe acne can affect many facets of a person's life, causing a great deal of embarrassment and stress. Some severe forms of acne like acne cysts may rupture and cause scars that can result in psychological effects on the sufferer. Having skin full of pimples and zits may significantly limit one's social life. Although acne is not considered to be a life threatening disorder, the psychological impact of acne can be quite profound as it affects the most visible parts of your body.

If your acne condition is severe it can cause disfiguring and require years of treatment. In such cases seeking the help of a qualified dermatologist will be your best option

Acne Treatment and Prevention

To prevent acne, it is best to begin by learning more about your skin. In her book "Clear Skin Magic", Audrey Roberts explained in great detail about the human skin and its natural properties. She equips you with a good understanding of your skin's characteristics and outline various methods including natural treatments and diets to tackle your acne and pimple problems.
There's also an entire skin care management system called Acnezine that finds the source of your acne and not only heals the blemishes you have, but also treats future outbreaks that you don't even see yet. It elimiates spots, pimples, redness, blackheads and whiteheads safely and also works to cleanse the entire body.
Once your acne improves or clears, you may need to continue your acne treatment regime to prevent new acne breakouts. In some cases, you might need to use a topical medication on acne-prone areas. You can also prevent new acne breakouts with simple self-care measures, such as washing your skin with a gentle cleanser and avoiding touching or picking at the problem areas.
For pimples that are persistent, consult your dermatologist for an antibiotic solution to be applied to the surface of the skin or an oral antibiotic. Using antibiotics as acne treatment functions to suppress bacterial growth thereby reducing the recurrence of persistent acne.
If you are considering an acne treatment, it's important to get sound information from a reputable source so you know what to expect. Healthy Skin Portal leads you into a range of skin care treatments with details on the top skin care clinics in your area

WIEGHT LOSS FAST WAY

POST BY IMRAN KHAN
I was always wondering if there were certain rules of a fast yet healthy weight loss.
And after doing some serious browsing, I got an answer for you – Yes, there actually are such ways!
In fact, there are 7 of them. And they all look pretty simple!
Do you think you can manage them?
1. Drink water …

No, you don’t have to fill up like a tub, but ensure that you drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day. Don’t substitute for juice. Your body should always be hydrated. Your kidneys will thank you as it can easily flush out the waste. With adequate water intake your body will be able to metabolize fat more effectively. And if you have a glass of water 10-15 minutes prior to your meal, you will feel full once you start eating. Another fun fact, did you know that you can lose 62 calories by drinking ice cold water? But it’s better to drink it between meals or before meals, so that your food gets digested properly.
Check out the 10 Ways How Water Helps You to Lose Weight … for more details.
2. Eat 5 times a day …

Start with breakfast. The more you eat for breakfast, the less food you will want to eat at night. Please, don’t skip this meal as you’ll end up devouring everything in sight for the rest of the day. You don’t need to gobble up 5 large meals, just 3 meals of a sensible size and 2 delicious yet low calorie snacks. Eat sensibly so your body doesn’t crave for food. If you treat your body right it won’t demand for more attention!
Read these 5 Tips on Eating More Often and Losing Weight … for more.
3. Use weights …

Needless to say, exercise is crucial to weight loss. You can’t expect to sit on the couch all day, sip water and lose weight. Join a good gym that lets you work with weights. It will help you build muscle and your metabolism rate will increase. You’ll soon see the fat come off and in its place muscle will develop.
4. Use smaller plates in dark colors …

The hotel industry has changed the way we look at food. Today a regular burger can feed an elephant. Well, almost! Check your portions the next time you dine out. You don’t need to finish every morsel. So, what you should do is ask your waiter to put half of your meal into a doggy bag before it even makes to the table. This way you will not be tempted and you will feel full eating less. And you will have something for breakfast too!
Learn more about how to use colors to lose weight for an even more successful and faster diet!
Check also these 10 Easy Weight Loss Rules
When eating at home, it’s better to get rid of the huge plates you usually use. Substitute them with small ones – when food starts to fall off, you’ll know it’s enough. Try to get these new plates in dark colors. Dark blue will be your best choice since it’s the #1 color that fights off the appetite (just look at the picture above, I already can’t even think about food). Avoid red, orange and yellow in your dining area – they are the ones making your appetite go sky high! (Think McDonalds’ logo and you’ll do fine – do you think the colors they use were random?)

5. Read between the lines …
Food and drink products are all out to get you. They scream ‘Buy me! Buy me!’. It could be ‘fat free’ but it could still have a lot of calories. You need to analyze the nutrition label on the cover. The number one example of this is sodas. Find out what’s good for you and what isn’t. Knowing in advance can help you stay away from products that are calorie-enriched. Oh, and when shopping for groceries, avoid the aisles with cookies, frozen pizzas and ice-cream – it’s not the best place to test your will-power.
See these 10 Tips on How to Read Food Labels …
6. Keep a journal …

It helps to document what you eat. This way you can keep track and evaluate your eating habits at the end of each week. And if you’re a little more tech-savvy, then you could always maintain a weight-loss blog. Ask your dietician to look at your journal and suggest improvement points. I found it helpful to measure myself with a meter every morning. Every time I skipped dinner, my waist was a little bit smaller – and that’s what gave me the strength to get my appetite under control.
Check out 12 Tips on How to Keep a Food Journal … for the ideas.
7. Don’t punish yourself …

Go easy on yourself at least one day in a week. If you begin to dislike your diet then there’s something wrong. Find a diet that suits your body type and your lifestyle.
You will definitely see results with these 7 fastest ways to lose weight. If you’re motivated enough to stick to the regime, you’ll get there faster than ever! Stay committed!
I can’t wait to hear from you about your weight-loss learnings, guys! And if you know other great ways to loose weight, please share them in the comments, I’d love to hear how you tackle the weight problem!

Afzal Guru file hanging decision in a week file sent to home ministry

The file on parliament attack convict Afzal Guru's mercy petition, which is with Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejendra Khanna, will be sent to the central home ministry within a week, an official said Thursday.

The Delhi government had sent Guru's file to the Lieutenant Governor May 19 after giving some clarifications sought from his office.

'The file is being studied on an urgent basis. It will be sent at an early date,' Khanna's OSD, Ranjan Mukherjee told IANS.

An official in the lieutenant governor's office said the file is being 'studied minutely and urgently', and will be sent directly to the home ministry within a week.

The official said Guru's file was sent back to the Delhi government which did not oppose his execution but commented on the law and order situation in its wake. 'That comment was unwarranted from a government which doesn't have control over law and order,' the official added.
POST BY IMRAN KHAN
Guru, a resident of Sopore in the Kashmir Valley, was found guilty of plotting the Dec 13, 2001, parliament attack and was sentenced to death by a trial court in December 2002. The Delhi High Court confirmed the death penalty in October 2003.

The Supreme Court had also upheld the capital punishment given to him for his role in the terror attack. Guru's wife, Tabassum, filed a mercy petition to the president after the apex court's verdict.

As per the laid down procedure, the president sought the home ministry's views on the mercy petition in 2005.

The procedure on mercy petition also requires the home ministry to seek comments of the state government in whose jurisdiction the crime, for which the death penalty is awarded to the convict, has been committed

ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI trailer(teaser) with KITES

post by imran khan

Audiences were in for a treat, as Balaji's latest film, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI - saw it's theatrical trailer release alongside Anurag Basu's KITES. After the success of its previous release, LSD - LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA, Balaji's's latest project, ONCE UPON TIME IN MUMBAAI, directed by Milan Luthria, stars Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Prachi Desai. Judging by the audience reaction the film sure looks to be all that it promises - a super-entertaining rewind to the era of romance, smuggling, cabaret and the mafia. Seen through the eyes of a police officer, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI traces the changing face of the Mumbai underworld. The film, set primarily in 1970 Mumbai, follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and his eventual fall, when his protege Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai. Says a renowned trade analyst, "Audiences are eagerly awaiting the movie's release. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the movie already especially after the success of LSD." Sources reveal that those who have seen the rushes of the film can't stop raving about it -thanks to its slick, clutter-breaking approach of mirroring reality something that the makers are known to do with elan. In fact while the trailer was played on the big screen audiences were seen whistling and hooting especially in multiplex theatres in the suburbs. Reveals a source, "In the day and age where production houses are churning out one comedy and romantic flick after another Balaji dares to be different and comes out with a slick and entertaining film that makes you re-live the iconic days of the Mumbai of 1970s." Balaji and Milan Luthria's ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI is all set to release worldwide on 30th July 2010.

Emrann hasmi -the serial kisser escapes death

POST BY IMRAN KHAN

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi had a miraculous escape from death recently!
It so happened that Emraan, who is currently working on Bhatts' upcoming film Crook being directed by Mohit Suri, was shooting for a crucial action sequence on the streets of Australia.
While shooting the scene he met with a accident. However, he survived harmless but the camera, with which they were shooting, smashed into pieces.
Mahesh Bhatt narrates the entire incident on his Twitter page, "While shooting on a Melbourne freeway, Emran was driving at the speed of 60 km. His car went 2 ft off the ground after hitting the camera. Luckily the car didn't go off the road. Since Emran was driving at great speed he couldn't afford to swerve, so went over the camera which smashed into pieces."

This was probably the first scene of the film which they were shooting for, as the film just went on floors. Crook: It's Good to be Bad is a film about a self-absorbed young Indian man to be played by Emraan Hashmi. It is set to release worldwide later in 2010.

Smokeless tobacco can be as dangerous as cigarettes

POST BY IMRAN KHAN
People who think that smokeless tobacco is safe have been warned by researchers that it exposes the user to the same amount of another group of dangerous chemicals as the smoke of five cigarettes.

The research on polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in smokeless tobacco adds to existing evidence that smokeless contains two-dozen other carcinogens that cause oral and pancreatic cancers.

"This study once again clearly shows us that smokeless tobacco is not safe. Our finding places snuff on the same list of major sources of exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons as smoking cigarettes," said Dr. Irina Stepanov, who led the research team.

PAHs are widespread environmental contaminants formed as a result of incomplete burning of wood, coal, fat in meat, and organic matter. PAHs form, for instance, during the grilling of burgers, steaks and other meat.

The researchers have earlier found a total of 28 carcinogens in smokeless tobacco, and continued exposure to these over a period of time can lead to cancer.

"Now we have found even more carcinogens in snuff," said Stepanov.

In addition to the increased risk of cancer, she noted that chronic use of snuff leads to nicotine addiction, just as with cigarette smoking.

Stepanov said that until recently, scientists believed that only trace amounts of PAH existed in snuff because the tobacco was not burned when used. This assumption proved to be wrong.

"Even though smokeless tobacco use does not involve burning, moist snuff is getting contaminated with PAH during its manufacturing," said Stepanov.

The most likely source of this contamination with PAH is the curing process that is used to turn tobacco leaves into snuff. This process is called 'fire-curing', and it puts tobacco into direct contact with the smoke generated by smoldering hardwoods-a rich source of various PAHs.

The findings were presented at 238th National Meeting of the American

Brush your teeth twice daily to avoid heart disease

POST BY IMRAN KHAN
Brushing your teeth twice a day could go a long way reducing the risk of heart disease, says a new study.

Over the last 20 years, there has been increased interest in links between heart problems and gum disease and it has been established that inflammation in the body, including mouth and gums, plays an important role in the build up of clogged arteries.

But the latest study investigated whether the number of times individuals brush their teeth has any bearing on the risk of developing heart disease. The authors, led by Richard Watt, professor from University College London, analysed data from over 11,000 adults who took part in the Scottish Health Survey.

The research team analysed data about lifestyle behaviours such as smoking, physical activity and oral health routines.

Individuals were asked how often they visited the dentist (at least once every six months, every one to two years, or rarely/never) and how often they brushed their teeth.

On a separate visit, nurses collected information on medical history and family history of heart disease, blood pressure and blood samples from consenting adults.

The samples enabled the researchers to determine levels of inflammation that were present in the body. The data gathered from the interviews were linked to hospital admissions and deaths in Scotland until December 2007, said a University College London release.

The results demonstrate that oral health behaviour was generally good with 62 percent of participants saying they visit the dentist every six months and 71 percent reporting that they brush their teeth twice a day.

'our results confirmed and further strengthened the suggested association between oral hygiene and the risk of cardiovascular disease,' Watt said.

These findings were published in the British Medical Journal.

Tiger Woods to return at Memorial Tournament in Ohio

POST BY IMRAN KHAN

Tiger Woods will return from injury to defend his Memorial Tournament title next week in Ohio even though he is still not completely fit.
Earlier in May the 34-year-old Woods withdrew from the Players Championship only seven holes into his final round because of a neck injury.
"Although I'm not 100%, I feel much better and look forward to competing next week," said the world number one.
At the 2009 Memorial Tournament, he hit a final-round 65 to win by one stroke.
"The doctors advised me to take a week off and rest, which I did," said Woods, referring to his rehabilitation regime following his withdrawal from the Players Championship.
"They prescribed physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication and soft-tissue massages, which I'm continuing with."
The Muirfield Village tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus, which Woods has won four times, will help serve as preparation for the US Open two weeks later at Pebble Beach.
As well as the Memorial and the US Open, Woods has also confirmed that he will play at the Open and the AT&T National.
The 14-time major champion has played only three events since returning from a self-imposed five-month exile following extra-marital revelations.

Fred Couples backs Tiger Woods to return to team golf
Fred Couples believes Tiger Woods will not turn his back on playing for the United States in team events.
Couples plans to pick Woods for the 2011 Presidents Cup against Greg Norman's International team.
And alluding to Woods' infidelity, he told Radio 5 live: "He made a mistake - we'll see how he overcomes it."
Asked if Woods would make Corey Pavin's Ryder Cup team in October he said: "I think so. I believe he's ready and all the other team-mates want him there."
Woods has been away from competitive golf since November when revelations about his private life became global news, but makes his much-anticipated return at the Masters at Augusta next week.
"I'm playing with him at Augusta," Couples said. "I hope to see him a lot and play some practice rounds. I always play with him at Augusta it's not like I'm trying to get around him.
"He's the best player in the world, he's won the thing a bunch of times, he knows how to play the course and even at my age I still learn some of the nuances about Augusta."
Couples led the US to a 19½-14½ win over the world's best without Europe at Harding Park in San Francisco in 2009 and has backed Woods to be key to winning in Melbourne next year.
He will definitely be on my team," he said. "We've talked a few times, he's my main man. I would want him to play as much as he can or as much he wants. I'm a friend of his I'm not his counsellor."
The 2011 edition will take place at Australia's Royal Melbourne club, the venue where the International team claimed its only win in eight attempts.
The US have won six of the with one win to the International side and one draw.
"It's a great honour, any kind of team event for me is a special time, I've played in a lot of Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups but being captain is a lot more fun to watch and be part of than worrying about making a four-foot putt," he said.
Couples, though, goes into the Masters in good form, the 1992 champions having won the past three tournaments on the Champions Tour in America for seniors aged 50 or over.
"When you get to Augusta you're going to have those from the very first hole, maybe a five-foot downhill curler and I've been doing pretty well putting so that will be a huge bonus.
"On the Champions Tour, there is not as much rough, they're not as long I drive the ball a long way so the courses - I'm going to say this as politely as I can - they seem easy to me now, because I'm driving it very well, but once I start spraying it they won't seem that easy.
"So that's the key for me if I drive it good and putt good I'm going to shoot good scores whether I'm at the Houston Open (this week), Augusta or at a senior event."

Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor love making scene toned down in Rajneeti

POST BY IMRAN KHAN
A lovemaking scene between Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor was toned down by Rajneeti director Prakash Jha in order to obtain a UA certificate from the Censor Board.

A lovemaking scene between Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor was toned down by Rajneeti director Prakash Jha in order to obtain a UA certificate from the Censor Board.
Jha protested the change recommended by the revising committee, because he considered the scene absolutely essential to the narrative. However, the board headed by former justice Usha Mehra didn't relent.
With the scene intact, the film would have got an A certificate, something Jha wasn't willing to accept. An adult only film not only reduces the size of the potential audience, it also gives the impression of a sleazy film.
"The love scene was absolutely essential. Unlike other directors I had not shot extra footage so that the censors could take away whatever portion they liked. I had shot the love making scene exactly the way it was meant to be. I've had to reduce it by half," Jha says.
In addition to the love making scene, several instances of F-word usage have also been bleeped out.
"I've also had to beep out the F-word uttered by Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in two different places in the plot. Ex-justice Usha Mehra, who headed the Tribunal, requested me to do away with the F-word. But it didn't make a difference," he said.
U/A certificate given to Rajneeti, A few scenes required to be cut
Rajneeti, a long awaited movie is ready to hit the cinemas next week as the Censor Board has shown the green signal to it. The movie was passed when the director Prakash Jha agreed to cut the violent scenes & the other some homosexuality references.
The Censor Board referred the movie to Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). FCAT gave a green signal and a U/A certificate which meant that the movie is ‘Unrestricted Public Exhibition with parental guidance for children below 12 years’. This was given with a rider which said that the director will remove the said dialogues and scenes.
A senior Board Official said that the Tribunal members have seen the movie. They found a few scenes to be violent and abusive language is been used in the movie. Also, there are a few references been given to homosexuality which is not been ordered to be deleted.
The officials have discharged the reports which said that the role of Katrina Kaif has resembled the character of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi. According to the officials, Katrina’s character had no resemblance with Sonia Gandhi and there were no such objectionable dialogues related to any character of the movie.
When asked from Prakash Jha, he refused to admit that the board has directed him to delete a few scenes. Jha told the PTI that, "You have to ask them (Tribunal) whether there is a rider or not. All I know is that my film has got a U/A certificate".
In the meantime, the Information & Broadcasting Ministry has denied to say anything in this regard. A senior I&B official said, "The censor board is a quasi-judicial body, whose decisions are binding on filmmakers. The ministry cannot influence or intervene in its functioning."
The movie is a multi-starrer starring, Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgan, Ranbir Kapoor, Manoj Bajpai and Nana Patekar and is actually a story of a family which is been held in the dynasty politics. The movie is scheduled to be released on June 4.

Vikram, Aishwarya on the sets of Raavan

POST BY IMRAN KHAN

One of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year, Mani Ratnam's Raavan, is just a few weeks away from release. The music by A.R.Rahman has already become a rage and the promos of have created tremendous buzz. Yes... come June 18, and viewers can get a chance to experience the world of Raavan.
While the film primarily revolves around Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Bachchan and South superstar Vikram, there are also a host of prominent stars such as Govinda, Ravi Kishan, Priyamani and Nikhil Dwivedi who feature in important roles. While Govinda's character is similar to that of Hanuman in this modern-day interpretation of Ramayan, Nikhil Dwivedi happens to play Vikram's brother and Ash's brother in law in this film. So it may not be wrong to say that he would have taken some reference points from Lakshman's character in Ramayan. However, how similar these characters are to the ones made immortal in the mythological drama is something which we will know only after its release in june.
Vikram says Aishwarya is a hero in Raavan Tamil superstar Vikram, who makes his debut alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the three versions of Raavan in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, got to share the most daunting experiences in the jungles of Kerala with Aishwarya, including dancing high above water-level on "the most slippery rock God had ever invented."

Says Vikram, "Yes, it was quite an experience. It’s more she dancing while I just join in. I am just a passable dancer. I’m a good fighter but not quite the dancer. I always felt Madhuri Dixit was the best dancer ever. But then I saw how Aishwarya
held her own in Devdas. I thought it fantastic. It was really nice to see her dance. I just forgot my own steps and kept staring. Every hero from the South wants to work with her at some point in his career. I got my opportunity finally. It’s wonderful that I’m making my Hindi debut with her. It’s strange that every Miss World and Miss Universe enters movies. But who has had the lingering impact of Aishwarya's? She has some kind of an enduring aura. Over the years she has really evolved as an actor."

Vikram says Aishwarya is a hero in Raavan. "There are three main characters, me, Abhishek, and Aishwarya. I’ve done a lot of tortuous sequences in the past. But this one takes the cake and the ache. And Aishwarya suffered all the wounds, pain, fever and insect bites heroically in the forest. For all the dangerous scenes, she hardly ever used a dupe. She was totally up to the task. I coped. Guys are used to roughing it out. But she fell ill quite a few times."
Both Aishwarya and Vikram play the lead in the Hindi and Tamil versions of Raavan.
Explains Vikram, "I had to do two characters. But she had to play the same character twice, in two languages, one after another. For example, if she had to climb a rock with me, she’d do it climb down and then do it again with Abhishek."
Raavan was shot in the thick forest. Says Vikram, "We were not even allowed to drive in to location sometimes. It was like going to war. The terrain was so treacherous. Every scene was risky. If it wasn’t raining we were near waterfalls so always wet and susceptible to fall ill."
Playing Aishwarya’s noble husband in the Hindi version and then the dark outlaw who kidnaps her in Tamil, was not easy.
Says Vikram, "And we had to do it in two consecutive shots one after another. It was very exciting for me. Originally Mani Ratnam had planned to complete the film in Hindi first and then go on to the Tamil version. But all these intricate locations in the jungles and elaborate sets couldn’t be reached twice. Though I’m known to change my look. But going from the husband’s look to the outlaw’s look after 6-7 months didn’t seem feasible. So we decided to do both versions simultaneously. When you see Raavan in two languages you wouldn’t recognize me as the same person in both. I had to change my body language and get-up completely. I’m known to change for different characters. Even in Aparachit (which was dubbed in Hindi) I tried various looks. It comes from my drama background in school."
Vikram has taken his time over his entry into Hindi films. "That’s because my work in the South has been time-consuming. All my Tamil films take 1 to 2 years. I like to take my time over my projects. I didn’t want to enter Hindi cinema until I was ready."
Vikram was supposed to do only the Tamil version of Raavan. He recalls, "Mani and I were discussing it when he suggested I do the Hindi version, and a different character from the other end of the moral spectrum. It became very interesting."
Speaking of being at the top in Tamil cinema for 20 years, Vikram says modestly, "I always behave as though every film of mine is the first. And I try doing something different each time. It’s like a chess game for me. I’ve done very few films. By the time I release one film my contemporaries complete and release four films. In the year that I had Aparachit, Vijay had 6 films and Ajith had 4."
Vikram admits he doesn’t socialize with his colleagues. "It’s not like Mumbai where there are lots of parties and social events. We keep to ourselves. That could be because Chennai has no night life. The city is dead after 10 pm. The older generation of actors like Prabhu and Karthik were friends. But I head home after work to be with the family."
Vikram’s wife, Shailaja, is a teacher in psychology. "She’s recently started teaching in a very well-known school in Chennai. I discuss my career with her, bounce off ideas. I’ve also become half a psychologist. But my wife doesn’t come to location at all."
The couple have two children. "My daughter is 12 and my son is 8. My son is totally hooked to cinema. He wants to be an actor. But I’d rather he concentrated on his studies. I’m sure he’ll do great in movies some day. I’m also moving towards direction with every movie. It’s subliminal. But I am learning on the sets all the time."
At the moment Vikram is dubbing for the third version of Raavan in Telugu. "I suggested a particular tone and they liked it. Telugu is a little difficult for me." Vikram is now looking forward to his entry into Hindi cinema. "The work in Mumbai is so exciting. When I saw Rang De Basanti, Lagaan, 3 Idiots and My Name Is Khan I wanted to be part of them. I wish we could make films like that in Tamil. Very rarely do they have formula films like Partner and Wanted in Hindi. Most Tamil films are rustic, rural, rugged, and violent. Many of them are set in Madurai, which is known to be an aggressive city."
Many of Vikram’s Tamil films have been remade into Hindi, for example Sethu, which was Tere Naam in Hindi.
Says Vikram, "Salman Khan is a good friend and he did a good job. It was based on the Tamil director Bala’s own experiences. So I guess the creator’s influence was stronger in Tamil. I lost about 16 kgs for my character in the second-half when he goes into the mental asylum. I had one chapatti, one egg-white and a glass of beetroot juice as my meal for the day every day and I used to walk to the location which was 16 kms away. So the gruelling location in Raavan was not unusual for me. If I don’t have to do something challenging I find it boring. In Raavan the scenes were physically and emotionally challenging."
In Raavan, Vikram got hurt every day . "Bruises, wounds, sprained ankle…you name it. During the climactic fight I had a catch in my back. I couldn’t walk let alone fight. I had my physio-therapist with me to relieve my muscle pain. It was strange because for the climax fight I had to have two types of blood-and-gore makeup, one as the villain in Tamil and the other as the hero in Hindi. The unit was a mixture of Tamil and Hindi individuals, so I was comfortable from the start."
Now Vikram’s family is fighting over which version to watch first on release. "Tamil or Hindi, is a toss-up. But I’m not leaving Tamil cinema for Hindi. I’ve four films to shoot in Tamil. I’ve already started my next Tamil film, a psycho-thriller directed by Selvaraghavan where I have three roles. I’ve a film about a stage actor from the 1930s. I can’t do routine films. I’d love to do Gerard Butler’s 300 or PS. I Love You. Even if I do Hindi films, I want to be Chennai-based, always. I’ve already started getting offers. I was bitten by the acting bug when I was in Class 3. My audience has been growing since then. For me, my first Hindi film is like my first film. When we were shooting in Orcha, no one recognized me and then suddenly my driver asked me if I was the actor from Aparachit. It gives me a kick to be recognized."
Vikram’s Hindi is not all that good, but his co-star Abhishek has been helping him with the Hindi.
Says Vikram, "Abhishek is one of my best friends. I am known to be the prankster. But with Abhishek around I had to withdraw from the brat race."

Warner Bros to release 3D animation Hindi film Bird Idol on 23 April

Warner Bros India will be releasing the 3D animation Hindi film Bird Idol on 23 April. The movie is produced by Goel Screencraft and is directed by Jyotin Goel.
Goel said, "The creative thought behind the poster of our film is based on a saying by the famous director Alfred Hitchcock - The more successful the villain, the more successful the picture. It has inspired us as we have shown the biggest possible villain in our poster whose name is Dhamki and four of our main characters including our hero Hummi and his love interest Surili with their two friends are playing music on its nose and forehead. We have tried to illustrate the victory over evil by the means of music. The film is not based on the human kingdom but portrays the melodious world of birds and attempts to explore their lives from an unusual standpoint. It is a journey into the lives of birds as they soar over dense jungles and teeming cities, giving them a point of view of the world that is hilariously different from ours."

I HATE LUV STORYS(IHLS) STARRING IMRAN AND SONAM DOES NOT MOCK BOLLYWOOD

POST BY IMRAN KHAN

He achieved heartthrob status with his debut in the hit romcom Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa and Imran Khan is returning to the genre with I Hate Luv Storys (IHLS), which he says is a parody of all things Bollywood.
Though Imran's new film pokes fun at the "cheesy" treatment given to love stories in Hindi cinema, the actor says that the film does not take a condescending look at Bollywood, instead the laughters come from the fact that everyone loves the much derided cliches.
"IHLS is a self parody and we are not shying away from admitting that. See, the fact is that there is a tendency amongst a lot of people in the industry to say that the song and dance routine is passe. It is something that I have never understood," the actor told PTI.
The Karan Johar production, directed by debutante Punit Malhotra sees Imran pair up with Sonam Kapoor, who plays a die-hard filmi romantic.
If promos are any indication, the film makes an unabashed statement about the song, dance, mush and romance in Bollywood. But he is all for more song and dance in films, said the 27-year-old actor.
Infact, Imran is of the opinion that Bollywood does not need to be apologetic about it's song and dance routines and stick to it's entertainment value.
"We are making films for the Indian industry so why not just make it the way everyone loves them? If we are making Hindi films with all the songs and dances then why be apologetic? We should be proud of what we are doing and only aspire to do something better. Let's work further on getting some more amazing music and amazing dance numbers but let's not do away with them please," he said.

Karan Johar has matured. And how? In his forthcoming production venture I Hate Luv Storys, he actually takes potshots at the mushy kind of cinema that he and his filmmaker friends like Aditya Chopra and Kunal Kohli made.
I Hate Luv Storys is Karan's first film on the film industry. There are pointed and precocious references to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and other films of the romantic genre that created box office history a decade ago.
"But that's okay. A new generation of directors like Punit Malhotra, who directs I Hate Luv Storys have come in. They've their own take on love. And somewhere what I did in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai may seem outdated now," Karan, who doesn't mind it, told IANS.
In the film, lead actor Imran Khan keeps making digs at Karan and his kind of cinema.
"In I Hate Luv Storys Imran Khan plays a diehard cynic, one of those upper-class Mumbai dudes who looks down on Bollywood. And he keeps making barbed comments on mushy movies," said Karan.
Significantly I Hate Luv Storys, which stars Sonam Kapoor in the female lead, comes after Karan shifted from romance to serious themes with My Name Is Khan.
