Samsung is all set to launch two of its most anticipated phones in India in the next few days. We are talking about the Android based i9000 Galaxy and Samsung's bada OS based S8500 Wave. Both the phones were announced earlier this year and we are sure there are many of you out there who were wondering when these would end up in India. Well, looks like the wait is about to end!The i9000 is an Android handset that boasts of a crisp, super AMOLED 800 x 480 -pixel, 4-inch screen. This makes the phone Samsung's biggest touchscreen phone till date. The Omnia HD for comparisons sake "only" had a 3.7-inch screen. The screen also features something known as the mobile Digital Natural Imagine engine (mDNIe) that supposedly makes the images better - on screen. This technology was earlier found only on Samsung LCD and LED Tvs.
The phone would run Android 2.1 and will be powered by a "1 Ghz" processor - later found out to be the Samsung Hummingbird processor, based on the ARM Cortex A8. It has an 5 megapixel camera sensor and will support HD video playback as well and also pack in something known as the "Social Hub" - a single point entry to various social networking websites. It will come with the Swype virtual QWERTY as well as Thinkfree, a software for opening and editing Microsoft Office 2007 documents. All these for about Rs. 28,000.
The Wave, as mentioned earlier, is Samsung's first bada OS based phone and boasts of a Super AMOLED screen measuring 3.3-inches across. It has a 5 megapixel camera at the rear as well as Bluetooth 3.0 HSDPA and Wi-Fi. Both the devices will have Accelerometer, proximity sensor, and Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz UI 3.0. The Wave is expected to cost around Rs. 25,000 when launched in India.
